Replace a failed cooling fan
Description of cooling fans
|
The cooling fans circulate air within the patented cabinet cooling system. The
cooling fan module is located under the cabinet roof.

Verify cooling fan operation as part of regular cabinet maintenance.

1.

Locate the HX Fan Test near the temperature sensor grille on the DC
Distribution panel.
|
|
2.
|
Insert a small wire (such as a paper clip) into the INT test hole to press the
start button for the internal cooling fans. The fans will automatically shut
off after running for 30 seconds.
If the fans do not start, replace the fans.

3.
|
Insert a small wire into the EXT test hole to press the start button for the
external cooling fans. The fans will automatically shut off after running for
30 seconds.
If the fans do not start, replace the fans.
|
|
|
|
|
An over temperature condition will occur as the result of a failed cooling fan.
|
|
|
|
Procedure to replace the cooling fan module
|

1.
|
Open the cabinet roof. See the roof access
procedure.
|
|
2.
|
Remove the cartridge screws around the perimeter of the cooling fan
module.
|
|
3.
|
Lift the back end of the cooling fan module and slide it backward, then up to
remove.
|
|
4.
|
Disconnect the two power cables by pressing both sides of the
cable plug toward the center then pulling the plug out.
|
|
5.
|
Replace the old cooling fan module with the new one.
|
|
6.
|
Re-connect the two power cables to the new cooling fan
module.
|
|
7.
|
Slide the new cooling fan module into place. You may need to push excess
cabling back into the cabinet before lowering the new cooling fan module into
place flush against the cabinet.

8.
|
Replace and tighten all cartridge screws around the perimeter.
|
|
9.
|
Close the cabinet roof. See the roof closure
procedure.
